The Ligne 2 lighter collection emits a characteristic and instantly recognizable crystal clear sound. When the lid is flipped open, a "ping" sound is heard. In 1976, the "ping" sound appeared purely by accident on the Ligne 2 lighter collection. However, when it was discovered that many lighters in the Ligne 2 collection had been sent in for servicing after some owners tried to perfect the sound by making "minor modifications," the manufacturing team finally decided not to change the design and construction of the Ligne 2 lighters.
